Montenegro wrapped up their 2023 World Cup campaign on a winning note. They beat Greece to finish third in Group J. Nikola Vucevic (213-PF-1990, college: USC) stepped up with 19 points and 7 rebounds for the Balkan team.
Montenegro dominated in the first half. They established a 19-14 lead after the opening quarter. Montenegro stretched the lead in the second frame. They piled up a 36-30 halftime advantage. Montenegro did not loosen the grasp in the third period. They extended the margin to 8 points heading into the fourth frame. Montenegro quickly boosted the margin at 14-point mark in the final quarter. Kostas Papanikolaou (204-F-1990) helped the Hellenes cut the distance back to just 4 points 64-68 with 16 seconds remaining. But Bojan Dubljevic (205-C-1991) and Dino Radoncic (202-PF-1999) sealed the victory for Montenegro in the dying seconds. Dino Radoncic had 12 points for Montenegro. Ioannis Papapetrou (203-SF-1994, college: Texas) replied with 16 points, while Kostas Papanikolaou and Lefteris Bochoridis (196-PG-1994) chipped in 13 points each in the loss.
