Latvia continued their Cinderella run at the 2023 World Cup. They overwhelmed Brazil to clinch the quarterfinal berth. Andrejs Grazulis (202-PF-1993) stepped up with 24 points to lead the winning side.
The Baltic team got to a quick start as they grabbed a 13-6 lead. Latvia secured a 22-20 lead heading into the second period. Latvia maintained the advantage throughout the second period. They eked out a 45-42 halftime advantage. The Latvian team shifted the gears in the third period. They went on a furious 36-21 rally in the quarter to stun their opponents. Latvia never slowed down in the fourth stanza scoring 23 points and racing to a key victory. Arturs Zagars (190-G-2000) accounted for 17 points, while Davis Bertans (208-SF-1992) netted 14 points for Latvia. Bruno Caboclo (206-PF-1995) came up with 20 points and 7 rebounds for Brazil. Yago Matheus (175-PG-1999) contributed 14 points in the defeat.
