Serbia captured the ticket into the 2023 World Cup quarterfinals. They outscored Dominican Republic in the decisive clash in Group I to remain in the title contention. Bogdan Bogdanovic (198-SG-1992) scored 20 points and dished out 5 assists to lead the Balkan team.
It was never close as Serbia dominated from start to finish in this one. The European powerhouse piled up a 29-15 lead ten minutes into the game. They added 27 points in the second stanza to secure a 56-35 halftime lead. Serbia remained red-hot offensively in the third frame. They unleashed 31 points in the quarter to secure a massive 87-53 advantage. Serbia knocked down 25 points in the fourth quarter and eased to the crucial win. Vanja Marinkovic (198-SG-1997, agency: Octagon Europe) and Nikola Milutinov (213-C-1994, agency: Octagon Europe) provided 16 points each for Serbia. Karl-Anthony Towns (213-F/C-1995, college: Kentucky) responded with 25 points and 7 rebounds for Dominican Republic. Jean Montero (188-G-2003) chipped in 15 points in the losing effort.
