Germany wrote history today in Manila. They overcame Serbia in a spectacular all-European 2023 World Cup championship game to capture their first every trophy at this stage. Marko Guduric (196-G/F-1995) put Serbia within 2 points with 39 seconds remaining. But Dennis Schroeder (181-PG-1993) responded with a timely bucket to give Germany a decisive lead. The guard then added two more free throws to ice the win. Dennis Schroeder's spectacular performance, tallying an impressive 28 points and securing the victory with a crucial lay-up and two decisive free throws, elevates him to hero status within the German team and among their devoted fans. He was named the MVP. Franz Wagner (206-F-2001, college: Michigan)'s 19-point contribution and Johannes Voigtmann (211-F/C-1992)'s 12 points further solidified Germany's path to the championship. On the opposing side, Aleksa Avramovic's 21 points and Bogdan Bogdanovic (198-SG-1992)'s 17 points for Serbia showcased their valiant effort in the final showdown. Their remarkable skills and determination were evident throughout the game, even though victory ultimately eluded them.
