Serbia claimed the second consecutive win at the 2027 World Cup European Qualifiers. They stole a narrow victory in Sarajevo in Group C tonight. Nikola Tanaskovic (204-C/F-1997) scored 24 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, while Ognjen Jaramaz (193-G-1995) banked in 15 points for the visitors. Bosnia led throughout the first half. The hosts established a 15-13 lead after ten minutes. They extended the margin at 4-point mark at the interval 39-35. Bosnia kept Serbia at bay throughout the third stanza. The home side entered the fourth quarter up by 7 points 58-51. Serbia though went on a strong rally in the final period to take a 68-66 lead following a three-pointer from Stefan Momirov (198-SG-1999). He followed with another trifecta to give the visitors a 71-67 lead with just over two minutes remaining. Xavier Castaneda (184-G-2000, college: Akron) sank two free throws to put Bosnia within 2. He later sank a three-pointer as the hosts got within one point 72-73 with 10 seconds remaining. Danilo Andjusic (195-SG-1991) split his free throw attempts but Amar Alibegovic (206-PF-1995, college: St.John's) missed a layup as Serbia got away with a narrow victory. Xavier Castaneda knocked down 19 points, while Emir Sulejmanovic (205-F/C-1995) had 11 points for Bosnia. |
