World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers: Montenegro stun Greece in Athens

Zoran Nikolic (212-C-1996) and Emir Hadzibegovic (204-PF-1996) scored 4 points in the final 80 seconds of regulation to propel Montenegro to a surprising road win over Greece at the 2027 World Cup European Qualifiers Group B. Both teams are now tied at 2-1 record.
Montenegro recorded a 19-17 lead after ten minutes. They held Greece to just 14 points in the third stanza to take a 3-point lead at the final break. Greece erased the deficit and eventually took the lead after Kalaitzakis’ jumper 65-63 with under two minutes remaining. But Montenegro scored next four points and kept Greece scoreless throughout the reminder of the contest to eke out a tough win.
Zoran Nikolic finished with 19 points, while Emir Hadzibegovic delivered 10 points for Montenegro. Kostas Antetokounmpo (208-C-1998, college: Dayton) replied with 13 points and Kostas Papanikolaou (204-SF-1990) chipped in 12 in the loss.
