Regular Season Round 10: BK Duchess - Vienna United 81-45

Date: December 22, 2024
Bottom-ranked Vienna United (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 81-45 loss to second ranked BK Duchess (8-1) in Klosterneuburg. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. BK Duchess forced 26 Vienna United turnovers and outrebounded them 42-25 including 17 on the offensive glass. BK Duchess players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Vienna United's players. Worth to mention a great performance of international guard Michaela Wildbacher (175-1998, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international forward Pia Jurhar (192-1995, college: Portland St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Ukrainian guard Ninel Merkotun (172-2005) replied with 10 points and Ukrainian guard Oryna Bolotnikova (175-2005) added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Vienna United. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. BK Duchess have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-1 record having just one point less than leader UBI Graz. Vienna United at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. BK Duchess will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vienna United's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Vienna to the arena Timberwolves.
