Regular Season Round 19: Balkan - Beroe 77-74
Date: March 2, 2025
Fourth-rankedBeroe (9-8) made lots of trouble for second ranked Balkan (13-4) in Botevgrad on Sunday. Balkan managed to secure only three-point victory 77-74 . However their fans expected easier game. American center Tyere Marshall (206-1997, college: Rider) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import forward Jairus Hamilton (203-2000, college: WKU) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The former international guard Ventsislav Petkov (188-1991, agency: BIG) produced 16 points and 4 assists and American forward Anthony Walker (206-2001, college: Indiana, agency: 6th Man Basketball Agency) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Beroe's coach Daniel Klechkov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Balkan have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 13-4 record having just two points less than leader Rilski. Beroe at the other side keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with Spartak Pleven. Balkan are looking forward to face Cherno More (#3) in Varna in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Beroe will play at home against Akademik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
