The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of APOP (1-1) in Larnaca on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by AEK (3-0) 106-77. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. AEK looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by APOP's players. It was a good game for American guard Shane Gibson (188-90, college: Sacred Heart) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 7 rebounds. The former international guard Iakovos Panteli (187-85) contributed with 6 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists for the winners. American guard James Milliken (188-93, college: Creighton, agency: SDJ Sports) answered with 19 points and 5 assists and the other American import power forward Will Artino (211-92, college: Creighton, agency: KMG Sports Management) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for APOP. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. AEK are looking forward to face Etha (#5) in Nicosia in the next round. APOP will play at home against Apoel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
