Regular Season Round 6: AEK - Apoel 90-102

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of AEK (4-1) in Larnaca on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Apoel (4-2) 102-90. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of AEK. Apoel dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to AEK's 42. They outrebounded AEK 32-19 including a 25-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for point guard Ashton Moore (183-93, college: Citadel) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 7 rebounds. Power forward John Fields (205-88, college: Tennessee) contributed with 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Guard Shane Gibson (188-90, college: Sacred Heart) replied with 25 points and power forward Devin Searcy (208-89, college: Dayton) added 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for AEK. Four Apoel and five AEK players scored in double figures. Apoel moved-up to third place. AEK at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Keravnos. Apoel will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. AEK will play on the road against Apollon in Limassol and is hoping to win this game.
