Regular Season Round 16: AEK - Keravnos 75-85

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked AEK (11-2) in Larnaca on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Keravnos (11-3) 85-75. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of AEK. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. They outrebounded AEK 36-25 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Keravnos shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Anthony King (206-85, college: Miami, FL) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American-Somalian forward Mohamed Abukar (208-85, college: San Diego St., agency: Two Points) who added 16 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four Keravnos players scored in double figures. At the losing side Serbian forward Danilo Tasic (207-93, agency: 011 Sports) responded with 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and American guard Shane Gibson (188-90, college: Sacred Heart) scored 21 points and 6 assists. Defending champion maintains second position with 11-3 record having just one point less than leader AEK. AEK at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost.
