The biggest surprise took place in Limassol where host Apollon (3-2) beat league's leader AEK Larnaca (3-1) 71-67 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of AEK Larnaca. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-67. The best player for the winners was American center DeAngelo Riley (206-1988, college: Azusa Pacific) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Triston Simpson (188, college: S.Dakota) chipped in 10 points and 6 assists. Four Apollon players scored in double figures. The former international guard Iakovos Panteli (187-1985) produced 13 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Marcus Tyus (185-1994, college: Omaha) added 15 points respectively for the guests. AEK Larnaca's coach Nikolas Papadopoulos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Apollon moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Etha. AEK Larnaca at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Apoel. AEK Larnaca will play next round against league's leader Apoel trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Apollon will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked AEL. It will be extra interesting game as AEL is their local rival from Limassol.
