The most surprising game was the first loss of Apoel (7-1) in Nicosia on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by seventh ranked Anorthosis (4-4) 90-89. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Apoel. Apoel was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 8-point lead after three quarters before a 27-19 charge of Anorthosis, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 22 Apoel turnovers. 28 personal fouls committed by Apoel helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for the former international guard Zayd Muosa (199-2003, agency: Octagon Europe) who saved his team from a defeat with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Georgian Duda Sanadze (197-1992, college: San Diego) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Croatian swingman Davor Konjevic (198-1990, agency: BIG) answered with 26 points and American forward Travin Thibodeaux (203-1996, college: New Orleans) added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Apoel. Four Apoel players scored in double figures. Apoel's coach Slobodan Subotic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Anorthosis moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Etha. Apoel at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Anorthosis is looking forward to face Achilleas K. (#8) in Kaimakli in the next round. Apoel's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Nicosia to the arena Omonia.
