Regular Season Round 12: Artland - Jena 73-84
Date: December 7, 2024
Everything went according to plan when first rankedScience City Jena (11-1) defeated 12th ranked Artland Dragons (4-8) in Quakenbrueck 84-73 on Saturday. Jena looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by American point guard Zach Cooks (175-1999, college: Hofstra) who scored that evening 24 points and naturalized American guard Chris Carter (193-1992, college: Florida Tech) supported him with 13 points and 10 assists. Science City Jena's coach Bjoern Harmsen used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by American point guard Buzz Anthony (180-1998, college: RMC) did not help to save the game for Artland . His fellow American import forward Tajh Green (203-1998, college: Benedict) added 13 points and 9 rebounds. Five Jena and four Artland players scored in double figures. Science City Jena have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-1 record. Artland lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Bayreuth. Jena will meet Bochum (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Artland will play against Trier (#6) and hope to secure a win.
