The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-rankedScience City Jena (11-2) in Bochum on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked SparkassenStars (10-3) 84-75 . It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Science City Jena. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Bochum looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American guard Keith Braxton (196-1997, college: SFU) stepped up and scored 27 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and point guard Niklas Geske (188-1994) chipped in 13 points and 9 assists. Four SparkassenStars players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international Robin Christen (202-1991) responded with 20 points and American point guard Zach Cooks (175-1999, college: Hofstra) scored 17 points. Science City Jena's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. SparkassenStars have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Bochum moved-up to second place. Jena at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Bochum are looking forward to face Bayreuth (#15) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Jena will play against Vechta 2 (#18) and is hoping to win this game.
