There was no surprise when 14th ranked Seawolves Academy (3-15) lost to fifth ranked Schwelm (10-7) in Rostock 63-74 on Saturday. Schwelm looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Robert Merz (198-2000) notched 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and center Jonathan Almstedt (208-1999) supported him with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Even 19 points by guard Mika Freitag (188-2006) did not help to save the game for Rostock Acad.. Forward Michael Jost (202-1988) added 11 points and 7 rebounds. Schwelm maintains fifth position with 10-7 record. Rostock Acad. lost eleventh consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with FC Bayern 2. Schwelm will meet at home Berlin Braves (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Rostock Acad. will play against TKS 49ers (#12) in Stahnsdorf and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
