Date: March 9, 2025
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 15th rankedKoblenz 's (7-19) road loss to fourteenth ranked Falcons (9-18) in Nuernberg 91-94 on Sunday. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Evan Taylor (196-1996, college: Nebraska) who led the winners and scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Center Leo Saffer (212-2000) accounted for 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Five Falcons players scored in double figures. Falcons' coach Virgil Matthews used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Dominique Johnson (194-1992) came up with 21 points and 5 rebounds and American forward William Lee (206-1995, college: UAB) added 16 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Koblenz in the defeat. Nuernberg moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Bayreuth. Loser Koblenz keeps the fifteenth position with 19 games lost. Nuernberg will meet at home higher ranked Muenster (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Koblenz will play against the league's leader Jena (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
