Regular Season Round 26: Leverkusen 2 - HammStars 69-66
Date: March 23, 2025
There was a surprise result when twelfth rankedLeverkusen 2 (10-17) edged at home higher ranked HammStars (15-12) 69-66 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Romanian point guard Calin-Mihai Nita (186-2005) who scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Niels Duebener (195-2005) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Leverkusen 2 players scored in double figures. American guard Thomas Miles (190, college: WPU) produced 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Marcel Kirsch (201-2001) added 8 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Leverkusen 2 moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Muenster 2. Loser HammStars keep the sixth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Herford. Leverkusen 2 will meet league's leader Hagen BG on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. HammStars will play against the league's second-placed Loewen (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
