Everything went according to plan in Karlsruhe where fourth rankedHakro Merlins (21-10) beat 12th ranked Lions (12-19) 85-74 on Saturday. Crailsheim made 30-of-37 free shots (81.1 percent) during the game, while Karlsruhe PS only scored twelve points from the stripe. 28 personal fouls committed by Karlsruhe PS helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American point guard Vinnie Shahid (180-1998, college: NDSU) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 7 assists. His fellow American import guard Anthony Gaines (193-1998, college: Siena, agency: One Motive Sports) helped adding 7 points and 13 rebounds. Hakro Merlins' coach David McCray used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Canadian forward Abu Kigab (200-1998, college: Boise St., agency: Octagon Europe) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Melvin Jostmann (201-2000) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Crailsheim moved-up to third place, which they share with Giessen. Loser Lions keeps the twelfth position with 19 games lost. They share it with Bayreuth.
