There was a surprise result when twelfth rankedScience City Jena (3-3) defeated at home higher ranked Chemnitz (4-3) 85-72 on Saturday. Maltese-American point guard Eric Washington (183-1993, college: Miami, OH) fired 14 points and 9 assists for the winners. American guard Keith Braxton (196-1997, college: SFU) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Science City Jena's coach Bjoern Harmsen used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Dutch forward David NGuessan (206-2000, college: Kansas St.) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) and American guard Nike Sibande (192-1999, college: Pittsburgh) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Five Jena and four Chemnitz players scored in double figures. Jena moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Bamberg and Rostock. Loser Chemnitz dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Frankfurt and Ulm.
