There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Vechta-3 (4-11) defeated at home higher ranked Aschersleben (5-9) 100-92 on Saturday. Vechta 3 forced 22 Aschersleben turnovers. The best player for the winners was Moritz Gruess who scored 34 points (!!!) and 6 steals. point guard Kevin Smit (182-1991) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. American center Matthew Lane (216-2002, college: Molloy) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 21 rebounds and Yannick Von Hain (192-2002) added 25 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vechta 3 moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Aschersleben lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Lichterfelde and Bremerhaven. Vechta 3 will meet at home higher ranked Lichterfelde (#9) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
