There was a surprise result when eleventh rankedLions (8-10) beat higher ranked Koblenz (9-9) in Karlsruhe 78-71 on Friday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Karlsruhe PS made 7 blocks. Center Maurice Pluskota (209-1992) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the effort and British forward Wesley Oba (203-1999, college: Missouri St.) supported him with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Lions' coach used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Even 15 points and 6 rebounds by American guard Calvin Wishart (188-1999, college: UCSB) did not help to save the game for Koblenz . Serbian point guard Aleksa Kovacevic (187-2002) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Koblenz players scored in double figures. Karlsruhe PS maintains eleventh position with 8-10 record. Loser Koblenz dropped to the eighth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Giessen 46ers and Bochum.
