There was a small surprise when ninth rankedMainz (7-11) edged at home 7th ranked Bamberg (9-9) 61-59 on Saturday. The winners were led by American guard Taylor Golembiewski (173-2003, college: Colgate) who scored that evening 24 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Alina Kraus (177-1999) supported her with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Golembiewski is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 11 points and 16 rebounds by British center Elise Tweedie (194-2001) did not help to save the game for Bamberg . American guard Faith Alston (170-2002, college: Richmond) added 15 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Four Bamberg players scored in double figures. Bamberg's coach Samuel Gloser tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Mainz maintains ninth position with 7-11 record. Loser Bamberg keeps the seventh place with nine games lost.
