There was an upset when higher rankedEWE Baskets (11-14) were crushed on the road by fourteenth ranked Science City Jena (9-15) 97-75 on Wednesday. Jena outrebounded Oldenburg 43-28 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Jena looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American swingman Joe Wieskamp (198-1999, college: Iowa) fired 28 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import guard Keith Braxton (196-1997, college: SFU) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Science City Jena players scored in double figures. Science City Jena's coach Bjoern Harmsen felt very confident that he used 11 players saving starting five for next games. American-Central African point guard Chris Clemons (175-1997, college: Campbell, agency: JCK Sports Group) produced 20 points and 4 assists and American center Michale Kyser (208-1991, college: La Tech, agency: SLN) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Despite that victory Jena went down to fifteenth position due to points difference. Loser EWE Baskets dropped to the eleventh place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Vechta.
