There was a small surprise when fifteenth rankedHamburg Towers (11-15) rolled over 13th ranked EWE Baskets (11-16) in Oldenburg 96-77 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Hamburg. Oldenburg managed to win third quarter 27-13 . But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hamburg Towers forced 19 EWE Baskets turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American guard LJ Thorpe (196-1999, college: UNC Asheville) who led the winners and scored 27 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. His fellow American import guard Devon Daniels (196-1998, college: NC State, agency: LHZ Sport Agency) accounted for 20 points and 4 assists for the winning side. American-Central African point guard Chris Clemons (175-1997, college: Campbell, agency: JCK Sports Group) came up with 14 points and the former international Nicholas Tischler (201-2000) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for EWE Baskets in the defeat. Five EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hamburg moved-up to thirteenth place. Oldenburg lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with 16 games lost.
