There was no surprise when 6th rankedFreiburg 2 (11-10) was defeated on the road by third ranked Jena (16-5) 69-62 on Saturday. Jena forced 19 Freiburg 2 turnovers and had a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Latvian center Marta Miscenko (194-1995, college: Wingate) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds. American forward Cianna Gloster (183-2002, college: Shawnee St.) chipped in 9 points and 11 rebounds. Gloster is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Julia Leiner (172-2003) who recorded 18 points and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Helena Englisch (183-2006) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Freiburg 2 players scored in double figures. Freiburg 2's coach Patrick Fuerst rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Jena have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Heidelberg. Loser Freiburg 2 keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. They share it with Stuttgart MTV.
