Regular Season Round 18: ZTE NKK - PINKK-Pecsi 53-63

There was a minor upset in Zalaegerszeg where 7th ranked ZTE NKK (7-9) was defeated by ninth ranked PINKK-Pecsi (3-13) 63-53 on Saturday. ZTE NKK was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 18-5 charge of PINKK-Pecsi, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding ZTE NKK to just 5 points in fourth quarter. PINKK-Pecsi forced 20 ZTE NKK turnovers. The best player for the winners was Slovenian guard Katarina Ristic (170-84, agency: Two Points) who scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. The former international power forward Bettina Bozoki (191-89) chipped in 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Kirby Burkholder (183-92, college: JMU, agency: Interperformances) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and international point guard Dora Nagy (170-95) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. PINKK-Pecsi maintains ninth position with 3-13 record. ZTE NKK at the other side keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. PINKK-Pecsi are looking forward to face higher ranked Miskolc (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. ZTE NKK will play against MTK in Budapest and is hoping to win this game.
