Regular Season Round 8: LCC Klaipeda - Panevezys 101-66

Rather expected game when bottom-rankedPanevezys (0-10) was smashed on the road by third ranked LCC Klaipeda (6-3) 101-66 on Friday. LCC Klaipeda dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Panevezys ' 26. LCC Klaipeda forced 26 Panevezys turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The winners were led by international center Gerda Raulusaityte (189-2004) who scored that evening 21 points and 7 rebounds and Brazilian Maiara Pereira (185-2002, agency: Interperformances) supported her with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. LCC Klaipeda's coach Vilius Stanisauskas felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) by the former international point guard Gabriele Sulske (177-1990) did not help to save the game for Panevezys . The former international forward Gintare Mazionyte (186-1991, college: Texas) added 13 points for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. LCC Klaipeda maintains third position with 6-3 record having just two points less than leader LSU-Kaunas, which they share with Vilniaus univ. Loser Panevezys still closes the standings with ten games lost.
