LKL top team -Zalgiris (27-2) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Mazeikiai (3-26) in Kaunas 109-63 . Zalgiris dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Mazeikiai 's 32. They outrebounded Mazeikiai 36-19 including 24 on the defensive glass. Zalgiris looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Mazeikiai 's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Matt Mitchell (199-1999, college: SDSU) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The former international center Laurynas Birutis (213-1997) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Forward Amandas Urkis (199-1999, college: Lewis & Clark, agency: BIG) replied with 17 points and 5 rebounds and center Tomas Zdanavicius (204-1996, agency: Octagon Europe) added 13 points in the effort for Mazeikiai. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zalgiris have an impressive 23-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 27-2 record. Mazeikiai lost fourteenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 26 lost games.
