Regular Season Round 5: Lietkabelis - Rytas 89-84

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss ofRytas (3-1) in Panevezys on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Lietkabelis (3-2) 89-84 . It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Rytas. Lietkabelis looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American guard Jamel Morris (192-1992, college: Fairmont St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 6 assists. Estonian point guard Kristian Kullamaee (193-1999) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 assists for the winners. American point guard Jordan Walker (180-1999, college: UAB) answered with 17 points and 4 assists and the former international center Arturas Gudaitis (211-1993) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Rytas. Four Rytas players scored in double figures. Rytas' coach Giedrius Zibenas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lietkabelis moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Siauliai. Rytas at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Neptunas. Lietkabelis is looking forward to face league's leader Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rytas will play at home against the league's second-placed Neptunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
