Regular Season Round 9: Omega-Tauras - Telsiai 88-90

The most exciting game of round 9 in the NKL took place in Kaunas. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th rankedOmega-Tauras (5-4) to seventh ranked Telsiai (5-3) 90-88 in the game for the fifth place. Telsiai made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Omega-Tauras helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was who scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The former international guard Martynas Gecevicius (193-1988) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Sarunas Vasiliauskas (188-1989) who recorded 30 points and 5 assists and guard Vytautas Sulskis (201-1988, college: YSU, agency: BIG) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Four Omega-Tauras players scored in double figures. Omega-Tauras' coach Giedrius Kurtinaitis tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Telsiai moved-up to fifth place. Omega-Tauras at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost.
