Regular Season Round 5: Tornado KM - Saule 75-91

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss ofTornado KM (5-1) in Kaunas on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by leader Saule (5-0) 91-75 . The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Saule dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Tornado KM 's 38. Saule looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Saule made 9 blocks. Rinaldas Kairys stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 assists for the winners and Magnas Butkus chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Four Saule players scored in double figures. Neidas Linartas responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Azuolas Steputis scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Saule have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 5-0 record behind leader VKM. Defending champion Tornado KM dropped to the third position with one game lost.
