There was no surprise in Sao Joao where 10th rankedSanjoanense (3-10) was crushed by third ranked Benfica (11-2) 101-59 on Sunday. Benfica looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Sanjoanense 's players. Polish forward Zuzanna Puc (188-1997, college: Utah) stepped up and scored 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Ines Faustino chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Benfica players scored in double figures. At the losing side responded with 15 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Schekinah Bimpa (180-1998, college: Limestone) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Benfica . Defending champion moved-up to second place. Sanjoanense lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. They share it with Galitos.
