Very expected game in Lisbon where 6th rankedEsgueira (9-9) was crushed by second ranked Benfica (15-3) 84-63 on Saturday. Benfica made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Esgueira turnovers and outrebounded them 40-23 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Benfica looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Schaquilla Nunn (190-1994, college: Tennessee) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Brazilian forward Emanuely De Oliveira (178-1999, college: Florida) chipped in 13 points and 7 assists. Four Benfica players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Taris Thornton (183, college: Tenn Tech) who recorded 26 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Gabriela Raimundo (167-1993) added 19 points and 6 assists respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Benfica have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 15-3 record having just two points less than leader Q.Lombos. Loser Esgueira keeps the sixth place with nine games lost.
