An interesting game took place in Sao Joao where higher rankedGDESSA (9-8) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked Sanjoanense (5-13) 84-66 on Saturday. Sanjoanense made 27-of-31 free shots (87.1 percent) during the game. Sanjoanense outrebounded GDESSA 40-17 including a 36-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American Evan Miller (180-2002, college: UNCW) who scored 40 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. The other American import forward Schekinah Bimpa (180-1998, college: Limestone) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Miller is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Maianca Umabano (180-1997) who recorded 21 points and the former international guard Marcia Costa (173-1989) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Four GDESSA players scored in double figures. Sanjoanense moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Coimbroes. Loser GDESSA dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost.
