There was a small surprise when seventh rankedRm Valcea 2 (5-11) won against 5th ranked Targoviste (8-8) in Ramnicu Valcea 81-70 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 47-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Rm Valcea 2 made 7 blocks. Forward Mihai-Nicolae Carcoana (211-2002, college: S.Dakota) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points and 21 rebounds to lead the effort and Raul Hurdubelea (-2007) supported him with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Four Rm Valcea 2 players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds by Radu Dumitru (193-2004) did not help to save the game for Targoviste . Guard Iannis Paduraru (189-2004, agency: BIG) added 13 points. Rm Valcea 2 maintains seventh position with 5-11 record. Newly promoted Targoviste keeps the fifth place with eight games lost.
