Rather predictable result when second rankedCluj Napoca (16-4) smashed at home 6th ranked Rapid (13-8) 92-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Cluj Napoca. Rapid managed to win second period 19-17 . But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cluj Napoca dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Rapid 's 38. They outrebounded Rapid 44-26 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cluj Napoca looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Zachary Hankins (211-1996, college: Xavier) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). His fellow American import center DeShawn Stephens (203-1989, college: SDSU, agency: Slash Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Latvian Matiss Kulackovskis (203-1997, college: BGSU) who recorded 16 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Christyon Eugene (190-2001, college: Troy, agency: 011 Sports) added 19 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cluj Napoca have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 16-4 record having just three points less than leader Oradea. Loser Rapid keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with Pitesti.
