There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Voluntari (3-2) won against 5th ranked Valcea (3-2) in Ramnicu Valcea 103-85 on Saturday. The game without a history. Voluntari led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three sinking 21 long-distance shots on high 61.8 percentage. Voluntari looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American swingman Sacar Anim (196-1997, college: Marquette) notched 20 points to lead the effort and the other American import forward Lee Skinner (198-1992, college: Wofford) supported him with 15 points. Voluntari's coach Dan Ioan used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Even 21 points and 5 rebounds by American forward DeAndre Pinckney (203-2000, college: Southern Miss) did not help to save the game for Valcea. Belgian point guard Emmanuel Lecomte (180-1995, college: Baylor, agency: Players Group) added 17 points and 6 assists. Five Voluntari and four Valcea players scored in double figures. Voluntari moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Valcea and Brasov. Voluntari will meet at home Ploiesti CSM (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Valcea will play against Brasov (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
