Very predictable result when second rankedRapid (7-1) won against 7th ranked Valcea (5-3) in Bucuresti 82-76 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 6 points. Rapid dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Valcea 's 36. American point guard Roman Penn (182-1997, college: Drake) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 assists for the winning side and Serbian center Nikola Jevtovic (209-1989, agency: 011 Sports) accounted for 19 points and 7 rebounds. Rapid's coach used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. American forward DeAndre Pinckney (203-2000, college: Southern Miss) came up with 20 points and 8 rebounds and Puerto Rican point guard Gian Clavell (193-1993, college: Colorado St.) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Valcea in the defeat. Rapid maintains second place with 7-1 record behind leader Cluj Napoca. Loser Valcea dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Voluntari.
