ButPolitehnica Iasi was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Cluj Napoca 83-80 on Tuesday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Politehnica Iasi won third quarter 24-21 . However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cluj CSU had a 28-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mihnea Brie stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and Andrei Cupsa chipped in 18 points, 9 assists and 4 steals. Five Cluj CSU players scored in double figures. At the losing side Horia Dragoslav responded with 28 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and guard David Orbulescu-Matesescu (186-2006, agency: One Motive Sports) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Politehnica Iasi's coach Gabriel Clapon tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game.
