Gheorgheni (5-9) survived in overtime against Brasov CSU (1-0) by six points 84-78 on Sunday night. The game took place in Brasov. But the guests from Gheorgheni were better at the end. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Brasov CSU won third quarter 24-17 . However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Brasov CSU used huge pressure winning it 20-19 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 8-14 . Naturalized Hungarian guard Adam Racz (193-2005) fired 33 points (!!!) for the winners. Forward Raoul Olariu (196-1992) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Gheorgheni players scored in double figures. Vlad Georgescu (-2000) produced a triple-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists and power forward Justin Cristea (-2007) added 25 points and 13 rebounds respectively for lost side. Gheorgheni keeps a position of league leader. Newly promoted Brasov CSU dropped to the fifth place with 0 game lost.
