Second Stage Round 5: Gheorgheni - Rising Stars 72-95

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss ofGheorgheni (5-10) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by Rising Stars (5-0) 95-72 . It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gheorgheni. Gheorgheni trailed 43-40 at halftime, rallying from a 30-15 deficit at the end of first quarter to trim the gap. Rising Stars forced 19 Gheorgheni turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Gheorgheni 's players. Vlad Stanculescu (-2008) orchestrated the victory by scoring 33 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Stefan Ciurea (-2008) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Four Rising Stars players scored in double figures. Guard Matyas Lokody (190-1987) answered with 20 points and 9 rebounds and Slovenian point guard Matevz Magusar (187-1989) added 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals in the effort for Gheorgheni. Gheorgheni's coach Zoltan Kercso gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Rising Stars have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Gheorgheni at the other side dropped to the second place with ten games lost.
