The game between closely ranked teams ended with 3rd placedPloiesti CSU 's (7-12) home loss to second ranked Gheorgheni (8-10) 68-78 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Gheorgheni. Ploiesti CSU managed to win second period 21-14 . But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Ploiesti CSU 42-29 including a 30-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gheorgheni looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was naturalized Hungarian guard Adam Racz (193-2005) who scored 38 points (!!!). Forward Raoul Olariu (196-1992) chipped in 6 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Alexandru Chirila (-2003) who recorded 17 points and 6 rebounds and Cristian Remes (-2006) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Four Ploiesti CSU players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gheorgheni . They maintain second place with 8-10 record having nine points less than leader Rising Stars. Loser Ploiesti CSU keeps the third position with 12 games lost. They share it with Targu Mures CSU.
