The most exciting game of round 7 in the KBSL took place in Mersin. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 4th placedMersin (3-3) to second ranked Galatasaray (5-1) 71-69 on Thursday evening. Galatasaray looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Belgian point guard Julie Vanloo (173-1993) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 assists. The former international center Quanitra Hollingsworth (196-1988, college: VCU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Galatasaray's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Natasha Howard (188-1991, college: FSU, agency: LBM Management) answered with 25 points and 9 rebounds and French center Iliana Rupert (194-2001) added 18 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Mersin. Galatasaray have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 5-1 record behind leader Fenerbahce. Mersin at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams.
