Bottom-rankedGallardo managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of nine consecutive losses on Friday night. This time newly promoted Gallardo outleveled twelfth-ranked Mersin G. in Ankara 79-44 . It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 35-point difference suggests that Gallardo is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They held Mersin G. to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 43.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Gallardo forced 25 Mersin G. turnovers and outrebounded them 53-29 including a 41-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gallardo looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Asia Strong (188-2000, college: Syracuse) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Cansu Cankurt (170-1990) accounted for 8 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists for the winning side. Strong is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Gallardo's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Azra Arcay came up with 14 points and 4 assists and Ruveyda Berkman added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Mersin G. in the defeat. Newly promoted Gallardo maintains sixteenth place with 2-17 record. Mersin G. lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Yalova Vip and Bursa U..
