There was no surprise in Istanbul where 6th rankedMersin BBGSK (11-9) was defeated by second ranked Besiktas (15-5) 99-93 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Besiktas made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Dustin Sleva (203-1995, college: Shippensburg) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import guard Kyle Allman (190-1997, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Four Besiktas players scored in double figures. Besiktas' coach Dusan Alimpijevic used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American-Montenegrin guard Justin Cobbs (191-1991, college: California, agency: Octagon Europe) produced 24 points and 7 assists and British center Gabriel Olaseni (208-1991, college: Iowa) added 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Besiktas have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-5 record having four points less than leader Fenerbahce. Newly promoted Mersin BBGSK keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Bahcesehir.
