There was a surprise result when thirteenth rankedMerkezefendi (11-17) defeated higher ranked Turk Telekom (12-16) in Denizl 78-64 on Monday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 27-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Merkezefendi outrebounded Turk Telekom 38-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. Merkezefendi looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by Belgian Hans Vanwijn (207-1995) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and the former international Egehan Arna (202-1997) supported him with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 20 points by Canadian Olivier Hanlan (193-1993, college: Boston Coll.) did not help to save the game for Turk Telekom . German point guard Ismet Akpinar (193-1995) added 15 points for lost side. Turk Telekom's coach Erdem Can tested eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. Merkezefendi have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Bursaspor and Petkim. Loser Turk Telekom keeps the ninth position with 16 games lost.
