There was a minor upset in Izmir where higher rankedMersin Spor (2-3) was defeated by fifteenth ranked Petkimspor (2-3) 90-86 on Sunday. Petkim made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Nigerian-American guard David Efianayi (188-1995, college: Gardner-Webb) who scored 20 points and 8 assists. Dutch swingman Yannick Franke (196-1996) chipped in 21 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). American point guard Anthony Cowan Jr (183-1997, college: Maryland) produced 19 points and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Ghanian-American power forward Ben Bentil (206-1995, college: Providence) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Petkim and four Mersin Spor players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Petkim moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 6 other teams including defeated Mersin Spor .
