Buyukcekmece 's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after nine consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Mersin Spor (3-7) 88-77 on Saturday. Buyukcekmece made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Buyukcekmece outrebounded Mersin Spor 42-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. Buyukcekmece looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American Jaron Johnson (196-1992, college: La Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. The other American import Jalen Lecque (194-2000, college: NC State) contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. British center Gabriel Olaseni (208-1991, college: Iowa) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and American point guard Anthony Cowan Jr (183-1997, college: Maryland) added 23 points in the effort for Mersin Spor. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Buyukcekmece (1-9) left bottom position moving up to fifteenth place, which they share with Karsiyaka. Mersin Spor at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Manisa.
