The biggest surprise took place in Istanbul where hostGalatasaray (8-7) beat league's leader Besiktas (13-2) 89-73 on Saturday evening. Galatasaray looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Jerome Robinson (197-1997, college: Boston Coll.) who scored 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import center Freddie Gillespie (206-1997, college: Baylor) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Five Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Galatasaray's coach Yakup Sekizkok used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Berk Ugurlu (192-1996) who recorded 8 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and French center Ismael Kamagate (211-2001) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Galatasaray maintains eighth place with 8-7 record, which they share with Tofas. Besiktas at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Fenerbahce who have the same record.
